Gov Diri swears in 14 Commissioners, eight council chairmen

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Monday, swore in 14 new commissioners and eight newly elected Local Government Area chairmen and their vice chairmen in Government House, Yenagoa.
The new commissioners are Biriyai Dambo, SAN – Ministry of Justice/ Attorney General of Bayelsa State, Maxwell Ebibai – Ministry of Finance, ESV Moses Teibowei – Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Hon (Mrs) Koku Ebiuwou Obiyai – Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity and Hon. Dr. Emelah Gentle – Ministry of Education.

Others are George Flint – Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Engr. Komuko Akari Kharin – Ministry of Power, Barr. Perepuighe Biewari – Ministry of Lands and Survey, Brodrick Preye – Ministry of Special Duties (East) and Dr. Ebieri Jones – Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment.
Also sworn in are Barr. Peter Afagha – Ministry of Mineral Resources, Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei – Ministry of Women Affairs, Hon. Michael Magbisa – Ministry of Special Duties (West) and Hon. Daniel Igali – Ministry of Sports Development.
The governor in his speech charged the commissioners and newly elected chairmen to build on the foundation of his first tenure, and sustain and initiate legacy projects that would prosper the lives of the people and the state in general.
He said “I urge you to ensure efficient management of finances at their disposal for the betterment of all. For the Local Government Area chairmen, I want you to prioritize prompt payment of salaries. Let me also inform you that the era of loan-taking in the name of governance is over.”
