Izon Micro Finance Bank Congratulates Gov. Douye Diri

The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of Izon Micro Finance Bank Ltd have congratulated His Excellency Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujadkpo, on their victory at the Supreme Court.

It will be recalled that the apex court, in its judgment delivered on Friday, 23rd August, 2024 dismissed the appeal brought before it by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva, and his party, which challenged Diri’s victory in the November 11 Bayelsa State governorship election.

In the lead judgment delivered by Justice Garba Lawal, the apex court held that the appeal by Sylva and the APC was not only lacking in merit but also a gross abuse of the court processes.

The unanimous decision of the apex court upheld the earlier decisions of the Court of Appeal and the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had affirmed Diri’s election.

The chairman, Dr Ayakeme Whisky while savoring the victory stated that the choice and victory of Governor Douye Diri is divinely ordained and therefore can’t be challenged by any mortal. It is a definite affirmation the mandate of the duo has the guiding hand of God.

Dr. Whisky appealed to the Governor to remain focused on the arduous task of governance now that all distracting litigations have been laid to rest to make the state an investment hub to empower and improve the living standards of Bayelsans.

He thanked Bayelsans for their abiding faith in and support for the prosperity administration and urged the Governor to percolate to all nooks and crannies the dividends of democracy as he has often done.

“This significant triumph underscores the robust mandate conferred upon you by the people of Bayelsa State, validating their confidence in your leadership and vision for the future. The Supreme Court decision is a testament to the strength of our democratic processes by not rewarding rascality and violence but affirming the unwavering verdict of the Bayelsan electorate.

“We are optimistic that under your steadfast leadership, Bayelsa State will continue to witness substantial progress and development. Your resolve and dedication to the welfare and advancement of the people has never been in doubt, and we trust that this victory will further boost your efforts to transform the state,” the statement reads.

The Chairman noted that God doesn’t sleep and will always reward his children with a dedicated heart of service to uplift humanity. What Governor Diri has been doing since assumption of office defines his commitment to changing the face of governance to satisfy the yearnings of the people of the state. Hence he is protected by the banner of God’s love.

He advised Chief Timipre Sylva to take the judgement in good faith and allow peace reign in the state. Dr. Whisky enjoined the Governor to continue to be the magnanimous father of the state he is, and settle down to governance without any further distractions.
