A former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has hosted the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
El-Rufai hosted Kwankwaso, a few days after visiting former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
Although an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, El-Rufai has been relating with opposition figures lately.
Recall that in March, El-Rufai visited the national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP0, in Abuja.
The former governor was on his way to securing a ministerial appointment as nominated by President Bola Tinubu but he was dropped in the dying minutes during screening.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain had criticized the current administration.
On April 15, El-Rufai claimed that the Bola Tinubu-led federal government was spending more money on petrol subsidy than the previous governments.
According to him, “the federal government is now subsidizing fuel; many people don’t know this”.
Reacting to E-Rufai’s visit to Buhari, a former Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, Shehu Sani, claimed it was part of plots by some prominent northern politicians to unseat President Tinubu in the next election.
