LGA ELECTIONS: PDP Will Win all Councils – Cocodia

If the level of preparations for the forthcoming local government elections is anything to go by, then, candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, will emerge winners from the eight local government areas.
These were the words of the Immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia, while on a citizen-participatory program, Talk to Bayelsa, on Glory FM 97.1 on Wednesday.
High Chief Cocodia noted that although seventeen political parties are contesting, however, it is evident that the Peoples Democratic Party will come top, following it’s activities ahead of the elections.

He said aside the fact that the candidates of the PDP for Chairmen and councillorship are popular, the party is also on ground, having claimed all the seats at the National Assembly, and majority of the seats at the State House of Assembly.
Chief Collins Cocodia however dismissed the notion that the ruling party in the state will win the elections since the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, BYSIEC, was appointed by the Governor, and so, the umpire might want to appease the State Chief Executive in return, and will bend the rules in the Governor’s favor.
He described the Chairman of BYSIEC, Dr. Peter Singabele as a straight forward and strict personality who would want to write his name in the sands of time, by conducting a hitch-free and transparent elections that will be acceptable to all political parties and Bayelsans in general.
The immediate past Political Adviser reiterated his call for electronic voting which he stressed will not only help in advancing the voting process, but deliver credible polls, and also increase citizen participation in subsequent elections.
High Chief Collins Cocodia concluded by urging the electoral body not to leave any stone unturned in it’s bid to conduct a credible local government council poll for Chairmen and councillors, as he equally called on Bayelsans to turn out en masse on Saturday to cast their votes for their preferred candidates.
