OSUN State Governor-elect, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, on Wednesday tasked the civil servants in the state to redouble their efforts in generating more revenues into the coffers of the state government, with a view to creating solid financial base for steady social and economic development.

He maintained that prevailing realities have shown that dependence on federal allocation can no longer sustain capital and financial expenditures of any state in the federation, just as he underscored the need to look inward to explore opportunities to shore up the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state government.
Oyetola gave the charge in Osogbo, Osun State capital during an interface and special thanksgiving organised by senior civil servants in conjunction with the state Head of Service ((HoS), Dr Olowogboyega Oyebade.

Oyetola expressed optimism that increase in the total revenues accruable to the state would go a long way in aiding government’s responsibility in the statutory tasks of payment of salaries and emoluments, including funding the implementation of capital projects and provision of basic amenities.

While lauding the HoS and the entire workers for their dedication to duties, he stated, “I will improve on my already cordial relationship with workers in the state and raise the bar of governance.”

In her remark, Osun State deputy governor, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori described the governor-elect as the brain behind the innovation which prevented the untoward during the salary payment crisis,
