By Adeleye Kunle
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the meeting between All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
According to Track News, Wike and Tinubu met in London on Monday night to discuss issues concerning the 2023 presidential election.
According to a source who spoke to Track News on the condition of anonymity, the meeting focused on how the Wike camp would remain in the PDP in order to cause a crisis within the party.
Speaking to Track News, a Tinubu camp source said the discussions were very fruitful, adding that Wike may reach an agreement to support Tinubu and the APC in the 2023 elections.
The APC chieftain also stated that during the meeting, they discussed how they would mobilize their supporters to work for the APC in 2023.
According to the source, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ekiti State counterpart, Kayode Fayemi, attended the meeting from the Tinubu camp, while Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) attended from the Wike camp.
PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba responded to the news, saying the party was unaware of the meeting between Wike and Tinubu.
In addition, Ologunagba stated that the process of resolving the feud between Wike and the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is still ongoing, and that the party is making good progress.
He stated, “We are making good progress in the reconciliation process. It is a marathon, not a sprint, and we are confident that everything will be fine at the end of the day.”
