The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the attack on the PDP campaign train.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer, made the announcement on Monday.

The spokesperson confirmed that the party informed the DPO in Badagry of its planned visits and that security was provided.

“However, on their way back, the campaign train made an unscheduled visit to a completely different and undisclosed location without notifying the police,” he said.

Hundeyin stated that the command was awaiting the victims’ complaints because the statements would help the ongoing investigation.

“It is hereby assured that no stone will be left unturned in the arrest and prosecution of the attackers,” the PRO added.

On Sunday, members of the PDP’s governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran (Jandor), were ambushed.

They were returning from a trip to Badagry Local Government’s Ikoga Junction area.

The PDP claimed that the perpetrators were All Progressives Congress supporters.

Hakeem Amode, Publicity Secretary of the JandorFunke 2023 Campaign Council, stated that several members of Jandor’s entourage, including journalists, were injured.

According to the spokesperson, thugs were shouting APC while firing guns and wielding dangerous weapons.

“Our party expressed concern about the threat of using APC-sponsored thugs to attack our gubernatorial candidate’s campaign programs,” Amode said.

Jandor is from Lagos’ Badagry division. Hours before the attack, the flagbearer and his running mate, Funke Akindele, paid visits to Islamic and Christian leaders.
