Rerun elections: Protests erupt in Kaduna over man stabbed to death for protecting ballot box

A man identified as Mansir Shafiu met a tragic end while attempting to prevent the snatching of a ballot box during the rerun elections in Rigachikun, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Eyewitnesses reported that Shafiu bravely intervened to thwart the actions of thugs, only to be fatally stabbed by one of them wielding a knife.
The unfortunate incident happened around 8 a.m. on Sunday, prompting local youths to stage a protest that blocked the Kaduna/Zaria road.
The roadblock caused a significant traffic jam, inconveniencing motorists until the military intervened to clear the route.
Hussaini Jallo, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and supporter of the House of Representatives representing Igabi federal constituency, confirmed the tragic event to Daily Trust.
He said Shafiu was laid to rest following Islamic rites on Sunday morning.
