Shekarau Expresses Opinion On Supreme Court’s Selection For Kano State Governor, Yusuf vs. Gawuna

According to Shekarau, both men should acknowledge that power is bestowed by God upon whomever He chooses. The former Governor also encouraged Yusuf and Gawuna to seek divine guidance through prayer, asking God to grant Kano State the most deserving leader as determined by the Supreme Court’s verdict.

Last week, the Supreme Court, after hearing arguments from all parties involved in the Kano governorship dispute, reserved its judgment. Justice Inyang Okoro, leading the five-man panel, announced that the final judgment date would be communicated to the concerned parties.

Shekarau commented on the situation, emphasizing the importance of the contestants accepting the court’s decision. He urged the judges to bear in mind that they would be accountable to God for the judgment they deliver.

Expressing optimism that the court would render a just decision, the former Kano governor reminded the public that judges are also human beings. He said, “May Allah choose leaders for Kano that will be of benefit to the people and the state. This is what we are praying for. He alone knows who to give, and we are hopeful that he will answer our prayers.”

Shekarau underscored the impartiality of divine power, stating, “God in his infinite mercy gives power to whom he wishes regardless of his religion, tribe or whatever else. The good and the bad.”

Regarding the judges, Shekarau acknowledged the complexity of their role and cited the guidance of the Holy Prophet, who mentioned that judges receive rewards for their judgments, whether just or otherwise. He concluded, “We are hopeful that the judges will do what is right. If they do wrong, let’s know that they are human.
