Tinubu: Christian-Christian Presidential Ticket on the Way
On Wednesday, the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Remi Tinubu, discussed the possibility of a Christian-Christian ticket in the future.
According to the lawmaker, the ruling party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket has paved the way for a Christian ticket in elections after 2023.
Remi said this to women at the APC South-West women’s presidential rally in Lagos on Wednesday, according to Track News.
Despite public outrage, the APC chose a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 election.
Tinubu chose Kashim Shettima, the former governor of Borno State and a Muslim, as his running mate.
As a result of the development, some disgruntled Christians in the ruling party withdrew their support for the party’s presidential candidate.
“As for the Muslim-Muslim ticket, this one will set the tone for the future,” Remi said at the rally on Wednesday. We will have a Christian-only ticket at some point in the future. What God has done in our land is amazing.
“We appreciate your large turnout despite the challenges.” This is yet another homecoming for me. God blessed my husband to become governor about 23 years ago, and I supported him as first lady.
“I’d like to express my gratitude to the people of Lagos Central for electing me to represent them. I am the first woman to be elected to the Senate three times. This is a fantastic opportunity, and I’ve been working for the betterment of our people since my husband left office in 2007.”
