Pregnant lady dies of snake bite
TRACKING>>Nigerians have taken to the social media to express their anger over the death of an eight months pregnant lady, Zainab Ahmed, from snake bite at Kinkinau area of Kaduna State.
Although the incident occurred on January 25, it was shared yesterday by NTA Abuja on its Facebook page.
According to the NTA post, Zainab, 25, living at Kinkinau area, was eight months pregnant when she died following a snake bite. But before death snatched her, she was rushed to different hospitals, which could not save her life.
The failure of the different hospitals to save Zainab and her unborn baby was the cause of the present anger among Nigerians.
The post states: “Zainab was eight months pregnant for her husband, Aliyu Ahmed, who works in Abuja. On January 25, Zainab entered her toilet and unknown to her, a snake was lurking in the corner. She was bitten by the snake despite the interlocking tiles in the toilet. How the snake got there is still a mystery. After a little while, having informed her husband, she started feeling dizzy. Aliyu called his first wife, Khadija, to take Zainab to the hospital and they took her to Kinkinau Specialist Hospital, but there was no doctor there. The nurse only called the doctor, who told her which drug to administer. Zainab’s condition was deteriorating. Again, they went to Biba Hospital but there was no doctor on duty. They then went to 44 Army Reference Hospital, but discovered that the hospital had no anti-venom and they were referred to Refinery Clinic in Chikun Local Government Area.
“A journey of 30 minutes took over two hours because of the bad road and on getting there; they were told that they couldn’t save both Zainab and the baby. She died alongside her unborn baby.”
One of those who took to the NTA Page, to mourn the lady is Zainaba Yahuza. She wrote: “Just imagine this kind of thing in Nigerian hospitals, no doctors to attend to this lady. May her soul rest in peace.”
Another person, David Ameh Joseph, stated: “If I say I blame her death on bad government, they’ll say its hate speech. If I say Nigeria jagajaga, they’ll say I’m not patriotic. Hospitals without doctors and medicine, bad road network, inside life.”
Friday Adikwu wrote: “Our leaders can be so foolish. Employ doctors no, repair road, you select area of specific religion and people to pay attention, forgetting that disaster and emergency can occur at any time, not minding your location and where your solution lies.”
