President Biden Reacts As Derek Chauvin Is Convicted Of George Floyd’s Murder
President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has called for total war on systemic racism in America with a view to eradicating it.
The President made the call as part of his reaction in a nationally televised remark shortly after the jury convicted former Minneapolis Police officer, Derek Chauvin of all the three charges levelled against him in the death of George Floyd.
It will be recalled as earlier reported by TrackNews Online that Chauvin, on Tuesday, was found guilty by the jury of all the three charges leveled against in the death of George Floyd.
The ex-police who has been found guilty could face up to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder, 25 years for third-degree murder and 10 years for second-degree manslaughter.
The jury after hours of deliberation on Monday and Tuesday found him guilty of killing George Floyd in May, 2020.
Chauvin’s bail was immediately revoked by the judge and he was escorted out of the courtroom with his hands cuffed.
Reacting to the development, the American President said “systemic racism” is a “stain on our nation’s soul.”
He added that all Americans must work towards “confronting head on systemic racism and the racial disparities that exist in policing and our criminal justice system.”
