President Tinubu Appoints Six New Chief Medical Directors for Federal Hospitals

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of six new Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) for hospitals under federal administration. The appointments cover medical institutions in Akure, Gombe, Azare, Lafiya, Maiduguri, and Kafanchan.
Prof. Olusegun Sylvester Ojo has been named the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital in Akure, Ondo State. His appointment marks a significant leadership change at the institution, with expectations for enhanced healthcare delivery and medical training.
In Gombe, Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi has been reappointed as the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital. His reappointment reflects confidence in his previous leadership and management of the hospital.
Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum, who had been serving as the Acting Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital in Azare, Bauchi State, has now been confirmed as the substantive CMD. His confirmation is expected to provide continuity and stability in the hospital’s administration.
Dr. Ikrama Hassan has been appointed as the Chief Medical Director of the newly upgraded Federal Teaching Hospital in Lafiya, Nasarawa State. His leadership will be crucial in overseeing the transition of the hospital into a full-fledged teaching institution.
Dr. Ali Mohammed Ramat, a renowned Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon, has been appointed Chief Medical Director of the newly established National Orthopedic Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State. His expertise in orthopedics is expected to play a key role in developing specialized medical care in the region.
Dr. Haruna Abubakar Shehu, a Consultant Family Physician, has been appointed Chief Medical Director of the newly established Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State. His experience in family medicine is anticipated to enhance healthcare services at the facility.
The appointments are part of President Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen the healthcare system by placing experienced professionals in key leadership positions. These new CMDs are expected to oversee hospital administration, improve medical services, and ensure the efficient operation of their respective institutions.
