The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has reacted to the viral claim that Chibuike Amaechi voted for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the presidential election.

Amaechi was said to have voted for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, with Governor Nyesom Wike of the PDP backing and voting for the APC.

The news went viral that Amaechi, a former minister of transportation and leader of the APC in Rivers State, voted for the PDP.

A former Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government and member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State, Tony Okocha had alleged that Amaechi voted for Atiku.

Okocha alleged that the action of Amaechi was the height of anti-party activity, claiming he had long abandoned the party.

But during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time, Cole said, “This is news to me.

“The same person I’ve heard of voted for the Labour Party. I’ve also heard he voted for Tinubu and now PDP. Amaechi has been silent and has decided to stay away especially because he was accused of bringing me in 2019.

“He has kept away and has remained silent, kept away from the brouhaha, went back to the law school and has been silent and that silence has made a way for people to come in to say all manner of things about him.”
