Presidential Primary, Wike Slams Atiku and Promises to Remain in PDP

By Adeleye Kunle
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the events that have unfolded in the aftermath of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential primary election (PDP).
He spoke at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State’s capital on Friday, shortly after returning from a foreign trip.
“I’ve decided to keep quiet because the PDP is a party I adore,” the governor said during a press conference. “I have completed my social contract with the people of Rivers.” However, it is past time to inform Nigerians of the truth.”
Governor Wike criticized PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s speech on the day he announced Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.
He also accused the former vice president of lying about him and of using key members of the main opposition party to spread false information about him.
During his speech, Wike promised to respond to both the party’s flagbearer and the party chieftains he referred to as Atiku’s “attack dogs” one by one and line by line in due time.
He stated that if he did not set the record straight, posterity would not forgive him and promised to clear the air after the commissioning of the projects scheduled for inauguration by the state government.

Governor Wike stated that former Vice President Atiku has yet to send a delegation to the PDP leadership’s reconciliation committee.
He did, however, say that a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, met with him in Spain in his personal capacity.
According to the governor, the former vice president came to his house to beg for help but now does not know how to get there.
He then challenged anyone to prove that he or she was sent by the PDP candidate to speak with him about the PDP and the aftermath of the party’s presidential primary.
Governor Wike, who stated that the idea of forming a committee was only seen in the media, insisted that he would remain in the PDP and help rebuild it.
