The arrival of popular dancehall singer, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, also known as Shatta Wale at the Ankaful Maximum Security prison excited inmates at the facility.
Shatta Wale has been remanded at the prison for one week after he pleaded not guilty to the charge of spreading false news that caused fear and panic.
Inmates at the facility in a trending video were seen hailing the singer as he was been escorted into the correctional facility to start his remand term.
The prisoners in the video cheered the embattled singer and praised him for joining them.
Recall that Ghana Police Service arrested Shatta Wale on October 20, 2021, for spreading false information.
Shatta Wale was accused of spreading false information that he was shot by unknown gunmen.
It was reported that Shatta Wale was allegedly shot at East Legon in Ghana.
The singer’s representative, Nana Dope, who spoke about the incident, disclosed that he is alive and has been taken to the emergency ward of a hospital.
Dope in a post online wrote, “Thanks to all those calling to check up. The king is still at the emergency ward receiving treatment. The gunmen are still on the run. Thanks to Ghana police.”
