Professor Seiyefa Brisibe Tours Sagbama, Ekeremor LGAs Health Facilities

The Commissioner, Ministry of Health Bayelsa State, Professor Seiyefa Brisibe yesterday took another facility tour to health centers and government hospitals in Ekeremor and Sagbama Local Government Areas respectively to inspect the workforce and strength of the health systems.

According to him, “The purpose is to expand the insurance scheme towards universal health coverage saying it’s on that strong mandate the entire Ministry is embarking on the inspection tour while assuring that intervention may not be all but definitely as soon as possible”.

Health workers thanked the health Commissioner for the inspection that it has never been this level of interactions between them and the entire Ministry and that, they believe he will not disappoint on the promises to do the needful after the inspection tour.

Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe with the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Azebi, Chief, Dr. Williams Appah, Executive Secretary BYSPHCB, other Directors and top government officials also attended the flag-off of the State’s Training of Trainers on Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) Training Course at Ayalla conference hall in Yenagoa before embarking on the tour.

At the training center he emphasized the importance of nutrition on the growth of children and encouraged health workers to mainstream, upgrade the nutrition of children to departments, State and federal level saying the organizers has taken a right step in the right direction while thanking them vigorously.

Speaking to news men after the tour at Sagbama, Prof. Brisibe stated that challenges might be there but also staying on the mandate of the Governor, Sen. Douye Diri is more important as such as a Ministry they must join hands with the State government to upgrade suboptimal facilities and major infrastructures across the State health centers and government hospitals to serve the people effectively.

The Commissioner charged the health workers on effective service, promising great service delivery with them in support of the State government while thanking the Governor, SDD and his deputy, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo PhD, for unarguable collaborations to help the Bayelsa health sector.

Places visited were, Health centers in Ekeremor main town, Aleibiri, Ayamasa, Toru-Orua, Ofoni, Sagbama main town health centers, Police clinic Sagbama, Referral hospitals in both LGAs, and other areas.

The Health Giant thanked the Staff of the Ministry, further encouraged them on more support and commitment to stand in the mandate of the State government to deliver quality health care and service to Bayelsans.
