Progress made in road building by Douye Diri

Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

In fact, the majority of Bayelsa State is covered in water, making it challenging to build roads there. The area also has a marshy landscape, making it necessary to repeatedly raise money to carry out long-lasting and useful construction work.

The government, which is headed by Douye Diri, has demonstrated a focus on and prudent use of resources, as well as political resolve to make a difference. Douye Diri has demonstrated by action that he possesses the mentality necessary to defeat storms, including storms related to road construction. The Governor, who obviously wants to emphasize his ideal, swiftly saw the need to build three strategic highways in the state’s three senatorial districts—roads that had been on past administrations’ wish lists for funding.

Construction road works to connect various communities in the riverine interior of the two local govt areas have advanced stages of completion at the Bayelsa West Senatorial axis of Bayelsa State, comprising the local governments of Ekeremor and Sagbama. The Aguobiri Bridge at Angiama in the Sagbama local government region is actively being built. The bridge will increase trade, community cohesion, harmony, and peace among the local residents.

The Oporoma-Yenagoa road project, which has been in the works for decades in the Bayelsa Central Senatorial zone, is currently receiving full attention, and Governor Douye Diri is closely monitoring the progress. To the benefit of everyone, Gov. Douye Diri is also making sure that the projects are completed quickly.

It will interest us to know that Gov. Douye Diri’s ongoing great works have continued to be the subject of an overwhelming amount of jubilation in that region of the state. I had previously written a special article on the Bayelsa East Senatorial zone Mega road construction Project. But in order to do this story justice, I’d like to remind everyone that on June 23, 2022, the governor officially flagged off construction on the much-anticipated Nembe-Brass road project connecting the two local government districts along the River. Setraco Nig Ltd received the project’s 54.1 billion naira contract, with the first phase’s 21 km and 10 bridges. Since then, the residents of Nembe-Brass and Governor Douye Diri have been living proof that “When the virtuous govern, the people rejoice.” In addition, The Bayelsa East Senatorial Zone is home to Brent Crude, the most precious brand of oil resource, and is said to have the largest concentration of oil wells in the state.

The state of Nigeria’s capital, Yenagoa, has undergone extensive internal road rehabilitation, which has altered the appearance of the city. This work has been undertaken by the Gov. Douye Diri-led government. The 4.5 kilometers of new road that Gov. Douye Diri built for the people of Igbedi in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government in Bayelsa State, connecting them to the rest of the world by road, has brought them so much joy that they are unable to adequately express it. For more than a century, this riverine village lacked access to a road.

Gov. Douye Diri has thus far shown a willingness to contribute to the growth of the state. Bayelsans should be grateful to God for providing them with a governor like Douye Diri, who allowed Bayelsa to catch up to other more established states in Nigeria in terms of infrastructure development.
