Qatar 2022: Hugo Lloris reveals what World Cup defeat to Argentina can do to Mbappe, others
France Goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris has claimed their World Cup final defeat to Argentina was a passing of the torch.
France were defeated 4-2 on penalties after the full-time and extra-time ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw.
Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman’s spot-kick was saved and Aurelien Tchouameni fired wide to ensure that Lionel Messi-led Argentina won the World Cup.
And the France captain felt the Qatar experience can help a young group in the coming years.
“I believe this tournament can be used for the future of the team,” Lloris told reporters.
“It was a bit of a handover between a generation arriving in the last phase of their career and a new generation led by Kylian.
‘He showed strong leadership and even more so in this final. We must keep this French team at the top,” he added.
