Qatar 2022: Two reasons Ronaldo can’t match Messi’s flawlessness on pitch – Carragher
Former Liverpool centre-back, Jamie Carragher, has given two reasons Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo cannot match Argentina captain, Lionel Messi’s flawlessness on the football pitch.
According to Carragher, Ronaldo cannot match Messi’s flawlessness on the football pitch because the former Manchester United forward has never orchestrated the tempo of a game, in addition to scoring as prolifically as the Paris Saint-Germain star.
Messi, 35, is all set to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday against France.
The match will be Messi’s last appearance in the World Cup competition.
Messi has been integral to Argentina’s campaign, scoring five goals and registering three assists so far.
His arch-rival, Ronaldo, meanwhile, went out of the World Cup in the quarter-final after Portugal lost 1-0 against Morocco.
“No one who has played the game in the last 30 years – and I include Cristiano Ronaldo – gets close to Messi’s flawlessness on a football pitch,” Carragher told The Telegraph.
“Ronaldo is one of the greatest goalscorers ever, but he has never orchestrated the tempo of a game in addition to scoring as prolifically as Messi
