Reactions as Ishaku presents last budget to Taraba Assembly

Taraba State governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, on Tuesday, presented N172, 734, 537, 459:40 billion budget to the state House of Assembly for the 2023 fiscal year.

Ishaku who made the presentation at the Taraba State House of Assembly chamber in Jalingo said the budget was made up of over N98 billion for capital expenditure and over N74 billion for recurrent expenditure.

The budget, dubbed “Budget of Fulfillment, Rescue Mission and Transmission,” according to the governor, will enable the government to complete the ongoing projects in the state.

Stressing that the thrust of the budget would be towards the completion of critical ongoing projects and providing the superstructure for the incoming government to carry on, he expressed optimism that the much-desired dividends of democracy will be spread across the length and breadth of the state before the expiration of his tenure next year.

The governor who is optimistic about completing all the ongoing projects before bowing out of office in 2023, affirmed that this would be achieved through improving revenue mobilisation, and strengthening monitoring and evaluation among others.

Describing the budget presentation of Ishaku as his last “since the tenure of this administration will end on 29th May 2023,” the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Joseph Albasu Kunini, said “the House would ensure speedy passage of the budget” adding that “this will enable our people to enjoy the dividend of democracy.”

Ishaku who went ahead to project revenue of over N100 billion said the budget will be executed in a manner that the thrust of government policies is sustained, adding that “we will ensure that revenue collection agents are adequately rewarded
