Remand me in Kuje prison instead of EFCC’s custody – Former Attorney General, Adoke pleads

TRACKING_____Mohammed Adoke, the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has pleaded with an Abuja High Court to remand him in Kuje prison instead of the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The former AGF who was arraigned on new charges of money laundering alongside one Aliyu Abubakar, who was accused of paying the dollar equivalent of N300m into his account in September 2013 in violation of the Money Laundering Act, made the plea through his counsel Mike Ozekhome on Monday February 10.
Though the prosecuting counsel, Bala Sanga countered the plea as he asked the court to remand the defendants in the anti-graft agency’s custody pending their bail application, Adoke’s lawyers quickly disclosed that have already filed their bail applications which the prosecution has responded to.
Ozekhome also asked the court to grant his client bail in liberal and affordable terms and condition, while pointing out that he (Adoke) was brought to court from the Federal Medical Centre near Jabi in Abuja, this morning.
