Retract Your Statement or Face Legal Action
**Comrade Tibieiebi W. Amadein
Tells Detractors, Maligners
Comrade Tibiebi Amadein a Niger Delta stakeholder, has demanded an immediate apology and a retraction of statements from detractors and people maligning his image 24 hours to retract their earlier degrading statement against me or face legal action.
A statement personally signed by Comrade Tibiebi Amadein reads.
“My attention had been drawn to numerous publications made in various online publications. These publications were made on social media platforms like Facebook, Nairaland and online media houses like Sahara Reporters, Punch Online, Daily Trust, etc. The reports are that I, as a Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Chieftain have been interrogated by the Nigeria Police for unlawful possession of firearms”
“First and foremost, I want to clarify that I am not a Chieftain of the PDP, and the recent allegations have nothing to do with my party affiliation. This situation was simply created to attract media attention. The individual making these accusations is Mr. Matthew Selepre, with whom I have had disagreements regarding the selection process for the Chairman of the KEFFES Rural Development Foundation. Mr. Selepre, who hails from Koluama 1 Community, refused to allow the leadership position of the Foundation to rotate to my community, Koluama 2, after his four-year term ended. As a law-abiding citizen, I sought legal recourse to prevent him from continuing as Chairman for another term. Despite a court order, Mr. Selepre disregarded the ruling and served a second term, during which I observed financial mismanagement within the Foundation. I continued to speak out against these actions, as it was evident that the Foundation’s funds were being misappropriated”
“To fight against the palpable misappropriation of the Foundation funds since 2021, I addressed a petition to the Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police, Zone 16, Yenagoa and investigations were opened and just as the truth was about to be unveiled, Mr. Selepre addressed a petition to the same AIG of Police on the allegations that I am in unlawful possession of firearms. When the Petition was approved by the AIG, I was not invited because doing so must surely give me some chance to put the record straight so I was asked to come to the AIG’s office, Zone 16 for more clarifications on my petition on misappropriation which I gladly did. The moment I stepped out of the AIG’s office after a successful deliberation on the allegations of misappropriation of Foundation funds, I was arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and the complainant is Mr. Selepre! While I was writing my statement under caution, the social media went ablaze with reports that a PDP Chieftain had been arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and forgery of license”
“At this point, I will summarized the facts surrounding that allegation. The firearm in question is a licensed pump action riffle (not an assault riffle) which I use for hunting games whenever I am in the village and the entire community knew about that. Sometime in 2020, the license of the pump action riffle found its way into the hand of a supporter of Mr. Selepre, one Mr. Ekubo who refused to release same but to use it against me. Now, to get hold of the pump action riffle after getting hold of the license, Mr. Selepre employed a strategy where one Okon was advanced the sum of N100, 000.00 to get the pump action riffle from my house after which he will be paid the balance of N20, 000.00. So they waited for me get to the village so my house would be opened and this happened on the 27th day of November 2022 when I had every reason to attend a burial ceremony in my village, Koluama 2 Community”
“While I was at the burial ceremony, the said Okon went into my house, brought out the riffle and gave it to his employers and a confessional video was made under weird circumstances. My attention was not called until the entire drama played out in the presence of some notable figures who attended the burial. I was thereafter called aside by a big politician in Bayelsa State to either stop the fight against Mr. Selepre or have the riffle turned over to the police. I told him that the riffle is licensed and that I will not be blackmailed and chickened out in the fight for truth. Eventually, the riffle was handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command. Mr. Patrick Ekubo was later made to submit the licence to the police so since 2022, the riffle and the license had been in possession of police. The investigation then could not indict me and the refusal of the police to conclude it, made me request that the investigation be transferred to the Force Headquarters, Abuja for objective investigations. This move was thwarted by the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command even as it received the signal from headquarters. As it stands, the entire investigations is pending at the Force Headquarters”
“My recent interrogation on allegation of unlawful possession of firearm, forgery of licence, etc and the speed at which it is now being broadcast and spread in all major online platform is as a result of my recent complaint of financial recklessness orchestrated by Mr. Selepre and his allies. It is also viewed as an attempt by my political detractors within and outside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Bayelsa State level to get at me”
“Conclusively, I would be calling on the Inspector-General of Police, who had earlier done everything within its means to re-open an unbiased and objective investigations of the alleged offence”
Against this backdrop, Comrade Tibiebi Amadein said the statement should also serves as a warning and a request for people maligning his image to desist from making any further defamatory statement or remarks about his person or face legal action
