Rivers chapter of Ohanaeze pushes for President-General

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing has reiterated the importance of adhering to the rotational arrangement for electing the President General of the parent Ohanaeze Ndigbo organization, as mandated by its constitution.
Following their 57th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Enugu, the group declared it is now the turn of Rivers State to produce the next President General, after Imo State’s tenure.
In a communique signed by their National President, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the youth wing urged Ime Obi, the apex decision-making body of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to uphold this constitutional provision. They emphasized that rotation ensures unity and fairness, warning against any attempts to compromise the process, which they said would be met with strong resistance. The group also called on other organs of the organization, including the Elders Council, Women Wing, and the Council of Ndi Eze, to provide effective leadership during this critical period.
The youth wing expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and South East governors for the dignified funeral accorded to the late President General, Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu. However, they raised concerns over alleged financial mismanagement within the organization and called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate.
Additionally, they criticized the high cost of energy and essential goods, lamenting the ongoing hardship faced by Nigerians. They also expressed skepticism over claims that the Port Harcourt refinery had resumed full operations and highlighted the exclusion of Igbo youths from corporate social responsibility initiatives by key federal agencies like the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the NNPC Limited. The youth wing called for inclusivity to enhance national unity, stability, and security.
