Rivers: Cultists kill vigilante member

Gunmen have killed a member of Diobu Vigilante Group, DVG, Mr. Uche Orukwo, at Obidanso Waterfront, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident, which happened on Saturday night, caused panic in the area, with the police calling for calm.
It was gathered that the victim was among a team of security operatives that stormed the waterfront in search of cultists terrorizing the area.

The security team, which was acting on information, had raided the waterfront about 9 pm on Saturday, where suspected cultists were preparing to launch an attack on a rival group in an ongoing supremacy battle.
It was learnt that the cultists on sighting the security operatives, opened fire and gunned down the vigilante member, Orukwo.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the killing of Orukwo, adding that investigation was ongoing to arrest the perpetrators.
