Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Dr. Efiong Akwa, the Niger Delta Development Commission’s (NDDC) interim administrator, has praised President Muhammadu Buhari and Mr. Umana Okon Umana for helping the commission carry out its duty.
In Ogba/Egbema, Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Akwa gave the commendation at the official commissioning of the 3.6-kilometer Okansu Community Road and bridges.
He gave the Niger Delta region’s residents assurance that the commission will continue to produce high-quality projects, and he charged the communities served by the road to make sure they did their share to safeguard and preserve the project.
Akwa, who was joined by the NDDC directors, asked the populace to thank Buhari and the minister of Niger Delta Affairs for their tenacious efforts to guarantee that the area had a better environment and a high standard of living.
He also praised the Okansu teenagers for their exceptional peacemaking, which helped the project contractor finish the road’s construction in a record amount of time.
He also praised the contractor for doing a fantastic job, thanked the locals for supporting the commission’s efforts, and assured them that other significant projects will be constructed nearby.
“More initiatives will be carried out here in due course,” he stated, thanking the audience for their support. We are constructing a 1.8-kilometer concrete-paved road in your neighborhood and will also step in to renovate your primary school.
The head of NDDC stated that the commission would keep working on programs to improve community living conditions in the Niger Delta.
Given the challenging topography in the area, he gave his word that the projects would endure and improve the lives of the residents.
The Okansu community thanked the NDDC for responding quickly to their distress call and constructing a quality road and bridges in the region through its Community Development Chairman, Mr. Clement Eke.
The building of the road and bridges, they saw, had enhanced social and economic interactions between them and their neighbors.
“The community is now more calm,” they continued, “since both young and old people are now engaged in some sort of economic activity, including an easier access to our farmlands.”
