Ronaldo Supports Guardiola As Brazil’s New Head Coach
Ronaldo, the legendary Brazilian striker, has backed Pep Guardiola to become the new coach of the Selecao after Tite stepped down.
The five-time World Cup champions were eliminated from this year’s tournament in Qatar after losing a penalty shootout to Croatia on Friday evening, following a 1-1 tie after extra time.
Brazil went ahead 1-0 after Neymar finished off a superb team move, but Bruno Petkovic dramatically equalized in the 117th minute to force a penalty shootout.
Croatia would keep their nerve from the spot, as they did in their last 16 shootout win over Japan, with four expertly taken penalties, with PSG defender Marquinhos’ miss condemning the Selecao to a quarter-final exit.
Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has been linked with the job, despite the fact that his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2025. According to Brazilian media, Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, and Jose Mourinho could be targets in the future.
In response to the search for a new coach, Ronaldo stated, “I think those names are incredible.” I’d like to see names like Guardiola, Ancelotti, and Mourinho as Brazil’s managers. That would be fantastic to see.
“But I’m not the one who makes the decisions, so we’ll see what happens in the coming days.”
Guardiola recently signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with City, putting an end to contract rumors.
His previous contract was set to expire at the end of the season, but he chose to commit his future to the club by signing new terms.
