Running mate for Peter Obi, Yusuf Datti explains why he left President Buhari.
By Adeleye Kunle
Yusuf Datti Baba- Ahmed, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, has revealed why he left President Muhammadu Buhari’s political party, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
Datti Baba-Ahmed was a founding member of the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). He was elected to the now-defunct party’s Kaduna North Senatorial District in 2011.
Datti told Track News in Kano over the weekend that they parted ways with Buhari because the President had lost his “principles and bearings.” He went on to say that this made it difficult for allies such as himself to adhere to his political philosophy and ideas.
He also urged Nigerians to disregard the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, who recently mocked the Labour Party (LP) for failing to mobilize 200 people for a walk. “Even in this room, just before I stepped in here, I had shaken hands with over 200 people,” Datti Baba-Ahmed said. He allegedly added that El-outburst Rufai’s was unreasonable and deserving of a serious response.
