Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief(Hon) Collins Cocodia, has congratulated the immediate past Governor, Chief Henry Seriake Dickson, and Hon. Moses Cleopas, on their victories at the Bayelsa West and Bayelsa Central Senatorial bye elections held on Saturday.
The former Governor and flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was declared winner by the Returning Officer, Professor Okechukwu Okeke, after he amassed a whooping 115, 257 votes, while his major opponent, Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi of the All Progressive Congress, APC, garnered a mere 17,500 votes.
In a statement issued in Yenagoa on Sunday, Chief Cocodia, who was the Commissioner for Youth Development, and later the pioneer Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, under the Dickson administration, said his victory was expected, going by his wealth of experience in leadership, and his gift of charisma, which according to him, is what the people of Bayelsa West need at the Red Chamber.
The S.A Political, added that with his presence at the Senate, a new style of representation would be ushered, as it was when he represented Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, at the Green Chamber.
He stressed that Hon. Dickson, and Moses Cleopas, remain the best and only candidates suitable for the Red Chamber, as the National Assembly is not a tea party, or a place for jamboree making, but for serious minded persons, whose antecedents and political tenacity speak for itself.
Collins Cocodia also applauded the electoral umpire, for once again proving to being capable of delivering its constitutional mandate, by organising credible, free and fair elections, one of the issues Nigerians are yearning for.
He equally praised Bayelsans, particularly the people of Sagbama and Ekeremor, not just for voting their worthy son, but ensuring that a capable personality, that can stand and voice out the issues affecting the State and the Ijaw Nation at large.
