Sanwo-Olu: we’ll guaranty security during party primaries
There will be sufficient security during the party primaries across the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised.
Sanwo-Olu addressed reporters after a security meeting at the State House in Alausa, Ikeja.
He said: “The security meeting gives us an opportunity to review the recent pronouncement on the future banning of Okada in some selected local governments and LCDAs.
“We were able to put strategies in place, and we identified many things we ought to do, one of which is to embark on advocacy to ensure we communicate effectively and efficiently to the people. That is why we are giving out handbills in all the major languages.
“There is a radio jingle sent out to also communicate to people, and plans are on for advocacy on television too. It is a people- driven initiative that we all agreed to live by, and to comport ourselves in similar manner.
“So, I am happy that all of us, the security operatives and government are on the same page with this and we will also be going ahead with our plans.
“Another thing is that we will ensure sufficient security during the primaries of different political parties across the state. We urge the political parties to approach the police command to get them adequate security at the venues of their delegate and primary elections.
“It is purely to ensure there are no gaps and that the state’s security architecture is not compromised in any way, and so that our citizens can continue to live their lives and do their business without any fear or favour”
