Scores As Bandits Attack Niger State

The Commander of the Local Vigilance Corps in Kpada Village in the Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State has said that Danladi Dobbo and four others have been gunned down by unknown gunmen that attacked the town on Friday.

Track News Nigeria learnt that three of the men of the vigilance group were reportedly from Abaji while the Commander and one other are natives of Kpada community.

Our correspondent, Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed, who visited the scene says other villagers, especially the farmers, were injured in the attack and others got kidnapped.

Track News Nigeria covered that the attack took place when the villagers were on their rice field.

When a crying alarm was raised, resultant effect is in the local security men being gathered to the troubled area and in the battle that ensued five vigilantes lost their lives while some of the terrorists escaped with gunshot injuries.

When contacted, the Niger State Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr Emmanuel Umar described the ugly occurrence as awful as he gave his confirmation.

Umar however pleaded with members of the community not to go into the forests to recover the remains of those killed, assuring that armed security men will be despatched to the area to air in the recovery race.
