The Ondo State government announced yesterday that it will pay N50,000 to anyone who reports an incidence that results in the arrest of offenders in the state.

At the weekly State Executive Council meeting held in Akure, the state capital, this was one among the choices made.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, briefed reporters on the development and stated that it was intended to further encourage individuals to provide pertinent and timely information on criminal activity in any area of the state.

“Anyone who reports a crime and we follow the trail, and it results in a successful conviction of the culprit, will now be granted a prize of N50,000,” Ademola-Olateju added.

“We want residents of Ondo State to report suspicious activity when they notice it. In order to rid the state of criminals, bandits, and terrorists, we want our citizens to take an active role in security.

Anyone can call to report any criminal activity in their neighborhood and provide security advice.
