Senate approves Tinubu’s request to sack top govt official

The Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s request to sack Babatunde Irukera, the executive vice chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
Tinubu’s request was contained in a letter which was read at plenary on Wednesday by the Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio.
Tinubu based his decision to relieve Irukera of his job on inefficiency.
After deliberations, the request was put to a voice vote and majority of the lawmakers voted in Tinubu’s favour.
