Senate To Screen Service Chiefs Behind Closed Doors Today
The Senate joint committees on Army, Navy, and Air force will begin the screening of the newly appointed service chiefs behind closed doors today.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Thompson Sekibo, disclosed this while speaking to The PUNCH on Monday evening.
The newly security heads to be screened are Maj. Gen. Lucky lrabor (Chief of Defence Staff); Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru (Chief of Army Staff); Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo (Chief of Naval Staff); and Air Vice Marshal Isiaka O. Amao (Chief of Air Staff).
According to Sekibo, the security heads would be screened behind closed doors because of the sensitivity of the screening.
On Wednesday, Senate President Ahmad Lawan referred the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of the new service chiefs, to the committees responsible for the oversight of the Nigerian military forces for necessary screening.
Naija News reports that Lawan gave the committees two weeks to carry out their assignments and report to the Senate in plenary.
