– He says the catastrophe would consume WAEC if the exams body does not avoid getting involved in politics
Senator Shehu Sani representing Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the National Assembly has warned African regional examinations body WAEC to steer clear of Nigerian politics or be destroyed.
Senator Sani, who defected from the All Progressives Congress recently, issued the warning to the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) in a tweet on Sunday, November 4.
He noted in the tweet that dabbling into Nigerian politics was a very dangerous thing that could lead to the ‘sinking’ of the exams body.
Senator Sani’s warning came just hours after Legit.ng reported that the controversy surrounding President Muhammadu Buhari’s certificate continued on Saturday, November 3, when the presidency and WAEC disagreed on the reason for the issuance of an Attestation of Results to the president.
According to the presidency, Buhari didn’t apply for the WAEC result which was issued to him on Friday. However, the examination body said the document was issued because the president applied for it.
The senior special assistant on media and publicity to the president, Garba Shehu, had said the initiative to make the documents available to President Buhari was that of the examination body
