Serie A: Lookman’s brilliant solo goal propel Atalanta to victory against Empoli
By Adeleye Kunle
Ademola Lookman continued his impressive scoring form as Atalanta returned to winning ways in Serie A courtesy of a 2-0 win at Empoli.
La Dea lost for the first time in the Italian top-flight this season against Torino last weekend but bounced back with a convincing win at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Hans Hateboer gave Atalanta the lead two minutes after the half hour mark.
Lookman doubled Atalanta’s lead with a wonderful solo effort on 59 minutes.
The Nigerian dribbled past four defenders in the box before slotting the ball into the net.
The 25-year-old has now scored four goals in his last five appearances for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
The winger has made 12 league appearances for his club this season with five goals and one assist to his name.
Atalanta maintained second position on the table with 27 points from 25 matches
