Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has come out to explain the true reason for the ongoing attacks on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) facilities across the country.
According to Track News, the former lawmaker took to the microblogging platform Twitter to claim that the attackers of INEC facilities are attempting to sabotage the upcoming general election.

The attackers, he claims, are opponents of progress who oppose holding general elections in 2023.

Sani’s reaction follows the latest attack on the INEC office in Ebonyi State’s Izzi Local Government Area on Sunday.

Unknown hoodlums allegedly set fire to the facility, destroying 340 ballot boxes, 14 power generators, 130 voting cubicles, large water storage tanks, office furniture, and a large number of voter cards.

Sani stated in a tweet on Monday that it is a patriotic duty for people to resist violence and rise up against anarchists.

“The ultimate goal of those attacking and burning down INEC offices is to sabotage the upcoming general elections,” he wrote.
