Shina Peller slams, dumps APC
A member of the 9th National Assembly Shina Peller has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Peller, who announced his defection on Friday via his Twitter handle, noted he would be disclosing his new party on June 21, 2022.
Sharing his reasons for defection, the lawmaker who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, faulted the ruling party’s style of democracy in Oyo State.
According to him, the democratic style is “one kills his conscience” and his continued stay in the party would see the people especially the youths perpetually at the mercy of those at the top.
“I’ve tried my best for APC, the party style of democracy in Oyo State kills my conscience and I’ve to put my people’s interest first. I’ve realized that the youths and the people will continue to be at the mercy of few at the top. I’ll announce my new political party on 21|06| 22”, Peller tweeted.
On May 29, the lawmaker lost his bid to pick the Oyo North senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shina Peller lost the APC ticket to Senator Fatai Buhari.
Buhari scored 570 votes against Peller’s five votes, ending the lawmaker’s four-year stint in the National Assembly
