Shortage Of Doctors Hindering Service Delivery At FMC Jalingo – MD
The medical director of Federal Medical Center Jalingo, Dr Aisha Shehu Adamu, has lamented about the shortage of doctors and other medical workers at the tertiary hospital.
Dr Adamu stressed that the situation is hindering effective service delivery to patients, which many often mistake for negligence.
The medical practitioner made the revelation on Friday while answering questions from journalists on accusations by members of the public of negligence.
The MD maintained that the hospital had an acute shortage of manpower, including doctors, clinical staff and consultants, which most times forced the management to overwork the available ones.
Dr Adamu also complained about the lack of qualified doctors in the state, revealing that the hospital management regularly advertises for the recruitment of doctors without concrete results.
She said most people who patronise the hospital forget the operations of tertiary health institutions and mistake the FMC for primary healthcare service delivery.
