Simon Ekpa: Only Nnamdi Kanu can declare Biafra referendum – IPOB
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) declared on Sunday that only its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, can call for a Biafra referendum.
IPOB stated that the date for the Biafra referendum, along with the criteria and schedule, would be announced, emphasizing that it would be organized within the framework of United Nations (UN) laws and the African Charter.
Emma Powerful, the spokesman of IPOB, urged Igbos to ignore Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Biafra Prime Minister based in Finland, for attempting to trivialize the referendum and the succession struggle into mere entertainment.

In a statement he signed, Powerful urged Igbos to disregard any ongoing secret referendum.
According to Powerful: “The attention of the global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by the great and resolute leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu, has been drawn to the purported secret referendum by faceless criminals behind the kidnappings and car-snatching syndicate in Alaigbo and their double agent in Finland. For the public record, there is nothing like a Biafra Referendum at the moment. Do not fall into the Nigerian Government’s traps.
“IPOB is the only movement leading the call for a Referendum for Biafrans in Nigeria. Referendums are not conducted in secret like the criminals are currently doing. These infiltrator criminals and their nincompoop leaders called Criminals in Finland want to reduce Biafra’s struggle to an entertainment show. Biafrans must ignore the ignoramus with all his antics to make the people believe that he is doing something after IPOB leadership has crippled his channels of scamming Biafrans.
“Referendum, according to the United Nations, is a direct vote by electorates on a political issue such as Biafra Self-Determination. If Biafrans are to have a referendum, IPOB leadership will announce it publicly via Radio Biafra and in all Biafran social media handles. Even the Nigerian and International Media Agencies will also announce such an epic event.
“The Biafra Referendum date and the criteria will be announced, scheduled, and organized within the framework of UN laws and the African Charter.
“Referendum is an open and transparent political process that will involve the observation and supervision of the International Community. It’s not an Umunna night meeting like some idiots conducting themselves in the name of Biafra Referendum. If the idiots visit any family at night to vote for the referendum, Biafrans should ignore them. Biafrans should avoid giving their personal information to the criminal-led criminals’ agents to avoid ‘had I known.’
“IPOB, led by Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu, is the one calling for the Biafra Referendum. Should there be any referendum for Biafrans, the same IPOB will inform our people, not a criminal gang that earlier blackmailed IPOB for our stand on political processes such as referendums. We thought the criminal and his auto-bandits said they didn’t believe in the political process? What happened to the warships, fighter jets, and their Liberation Army?
“There’s nothing like a BIAFRA referendum for now. If you refuse to heed this warning and fall into the hands of the notoriously bloody Nigerian Security Forces in the name of an illusive BIAFRA referendum, do not say you were not warned.”
