Soludo declares support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
By Adeleye Kunle
Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has declared his support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) presidential candidate, Justice Peter Umeadi.
This is despite the governor’s criticism of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, claiming that the Obidient Movement is an offshoot of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, APGA remains the country’s third largest political party.
Soludo, who believes that the main opposition party was unjust to the Southeast by zoning its presidency to the north, believes that supporting any other party could harm APGA’s chances in the 2023 general election.
“Considering the number of political offices it has won, APGA remains Nigeria’s third largest political party,” he said.
“APGA has a state governor, members of the National Assembly, and state assembly members.”
“The APGA does not see the ‘Obidient Movement’ as a threat to achieving its goals in 2023.”
“The LP and the ‘Obedient Movement’ are PDP offshoots.” As a result, they pose a significant threat to PDP rather than APGA.”
