Soludo Expresses Shock Over Death Of Another Anambra Lawmaker
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
The death of Dr. Nnamdi Okafor, the majority leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has shocked Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State.
According to a prior Track News story, Hon Okafor passed away early on Wednesday in a hotel in Sandton City, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The representative and his colleagues reportedly went on a parliamentary retreat.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by his top press secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo expressed astonishment at the lawmaker’s sudden loss.
According to the statement made by Prof. Soludo, it is shocking that the State Assembly has lost yet another lawmaker to the cold, cruel hands of death, especially since Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, who represented the Aguata 2 Constituency, passed away just three months ago.
“During the 7th Assembly, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor put a lot of time and effort into promoting his constituency. He will be sorely missed.
“May I use this opportunity to offer the Anambra State Government’s sympathies to those he left behind, particularly his family, the Awka Constituency 1 and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, and other parliamentarians?
“Life is transient in fact. May the living, like Dr. Okafor, continue to reflect on the meaning of life and live for the good of society.
Up to his death, Okafor served as the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) representative for Awka South State’s constituency 1.
