Gov. Soludo Suspends Newly Appointed LG Chairman After He Allegedly Beat His Wife To Death

The Government of Anambra state have suspended the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area honourable Mbazulike Iloka over the circumstances that led to the death of his wife, Mrs Chidiebere Iloka.
Mr Iloka was one of the 21 Local government chairmen that was sworn in by the Governor of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on the 2nd of August 2022.
His wife died just few days after he was sworn in as Nnewi North LGA boss and her death generated a lot of public outcry after it was alleged that the woman has always been subjected to domestic violence.
In response, the Government of Anambra state in a letter which was signed by the Commissioner of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Matters, Mr Tonycollins Nwabunwanne suspended the accused and asked him to hand over to the Head of Local Government administration while the investigation to the cause of his wife’s death is been carried out.
