The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has intensified pressure on Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, calling for his immediate resignation over his alleged failure to address the growing security challenges in the state.

This demand comes in the wake of a harrowing attack on Thursday night, where unidentified gunmen assaulted a convoy associated with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chief Chris Uba. The confrontation resulted in the tragic deaths of two policemen and two civilians and the abduction of several others, while the targeted politician narrowly escaped in a bullet-proof vehicle.

Expressing profound concerns over the escalating security situation in Anambra, COSEYL, through its President General, Goodluck Ibem, issued a statement lamenting the state’s precarious security landscape.

The coalition emphasized the urgent need to apprehend the perpetrators behind the brutal attack and promptly bring them to justice.

The timing of the assault, occurring during the revered Christmas period, further exacerbated COSEYL’s condemnation of the incident, labelling it a grave affront that cannot be overlooked.

The coalition asserted its determination to pursue justice and demand accountability in the face of such audacious acts.

“We give Governor Charles Soludo 48 hours to immediately resign and apologize to the good people of Anambra State for leadership incompetence and lack of capacity to defend his people,” the statement iterated, signifying the ultimatum imposed by the coalition on the embattled governor.
