Southern Kaduna: 28 killed in fresh attack
The attacks occurred in the Malagum 1 and Sokwong communities of Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Mr Mathias Siman, the chairman of the Kaura local government council, confirmed the incident to Track News on Monday, saying he could only confirm seven people were gruesomely murdered in Sokwong Community.
According to Track News, the Sunday attacks come just five days after three people were killed in Malagum 1 village by unknown gunmen.
The council chairman also confirmed that the attackers completely destroyed the houses in the Sokwong community, explaining that the number of those killed in Malagum 1 had yet to be determined.
“I urge the residents in the area to remain calm as security agencies are being deployed to carry out investigations in the area and ensure the perpetrators of the deadly attack face the full wrath of the law,” said the council chairman.
Meanwhile, Mr Atuk Stephen, the Speaker of Kaura Local Government Area, confirmed that over 22 people had been killed in Malagum 1, as well as eight in Sokwong.
He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to redouble their efforts to curtail renewed killings in the area, describing the attack on innocent people as deadly.
He regretted that the attacks in their area have been consistent and multi-dimensional, with efforts of the security operatives and government not seen or felt.
DSP Mohammed Jalige, the state Police Public Relations Officer, could not be reached to confirm the incident.
