Stop taking cases to soldiers for settlement, they are not judges – Ishaku tells Taraba residents

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State has urged people of the state to as a matter of urgency stop taking families, friends, relatives and personal issues to soldiers for settlement.

The, governor who gave the directive during the 3rd quarter combined service organized by TEKAN/ECWA Block in Jalingo, the state capital, said soldiers posted to communities are not drafted there as judges but to shield the communities from attacks.

Stressing that it is not their responsibilities to judge cases but to protect the communities.

He noted some persons who claimed to have good rapports with some soldiers took advantage of the opportunity to use their soldier friends to harass, intimidate and embarrass their perceived enemies.

The governor, who made this known through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Anthony Jellason, who represented him at the event, went ahead to admonish religious leaders spread across the different denominations not to stop praying for those in positions of authorities.

Stressing that “I want to urge our religious leaders to continue praying for us.

“We need prayers that God will give us the wisdom and guidance so that we will not make mistakes.”

Ishaku said his administration has being working round the clock towards addressing the various vices that have enveloped the state.

On their parts, the leadership of the TEKAN/ECWA Block, led by the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Isaiah Jirapiye Maagaji, said the churches will on their parts not cease from praying for the peaceful coexistence of the state and the country at large.
