Clarion Olusegun, a student at Ondo State’s Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has demanded an end to violence against women, stating that women must be treated with dignity.

Through her Female Speaks Initiative, Olusegun is determined to build and strengthen the female gender globally, as well as to find a solution to violence against girls/women (FSI).

She delivered the keynote address at a seminar in Lagos co-hosted by FSI and the non-governmental organization Female and More (FAM).

“It makes me happy to know that I have the ability to influence and give back to society,” she said. Women’s and girls’ violence must be addressed as soon as possible.

This project aims to end the widespread female-based violence in society.

“Violence against women should be reported to the appropriate authorities.

“We must be vigilant in order to prevent societal violence against women.” Security agencies must respond when an act of violence is reported. The government should also teach citizens how to defend themselves if they are assaulted or attacked.”

Mrs. Helen Oladele, a teen counsellor and parenting advocate, urged the government to assist in combating violence against female children, adding that society must also play a role.

She also suggested that women exercise caution when interacting with men.
