SUPREME COURT VERDICT: Cocodia Congratulates Gov. Diri, Ewhrudjakpo

Immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia, has described the recent judgement passed by the country’s apex court which affirmed Senator Douye Diri as the duly elected Governor of the state as “upholding the voices and wishes of the people”.
The Supreme court in a judgment on Friday dismissed the appeal brought by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timipre Sylvia.
The lead judgment delivered by Justice Garba Lawal held that the appeal by Sylvia and the APC was not only lacking merit but a gross abuse of court process.
Congratulating Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, High Chief Collins Cocodia said their victory at the Tribunal, Appeal, and now the Supreme court speaks volume of the level of weakness in the case filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress at the last governorship election.
In a statement released on Friday, Chief Cocodia as describing as appalling and unfortunate the audacity of the opposition party to even take such matters to court, after losing woefully at the polls, following his total rejection by Bayelsans.
The pioneer Commissioner for Labour Employment and Productivity, praised the courts for not only dismissing the case outrightly for lacking merit, but for condemning the abuse of court process by Chief Sylva, since he knew that he was embarking on a mission impossible.
He stressed that a man who was abandoned by his party faithfuls and stakeholders ahead of the last governorship election due to his attitude, unpatriotic and unconventional lifestyle, should had been wise enough to congratulate the Governor for his victory at the polls and his successful swearing in, but sadly, for the umpteenth time, expressed his wits of making wrong decisions by approaching the courts.
High Chief Cocodia thanked Bayelsans for keeping faith with Governor Douye Diri, adding that they shouldn’t loose sleep, as Project Bayelsa, under the watch of the Governor is on course.
He concluded by assuring them that the next three years and more will witness massive construction of projects across the states, as well as several educational and vocational policies and programs that will benefits Bayelsans and it’s residents.
