Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara Denies Allegations by Ex-Head of Service, Says Nwaeke Was Paid or Coerced

Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has dismissed the allegations made against him by George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service of the state. Fubara claimed that Nwaeke’s statements were influenced by external forces, suggesting that he was either paid or forced to make false accusations.

The former Head of Service recently alleged that Fubara was involved in the crisis that led to a state of emergency in Rivers State. He also accused the governor of orchestrating the bombing of the state House of Assembly and being aware of significant financial dealings within the government.

However, in response, Fubara stated that Nwaeke’s allegations lacked credibility and were part of a coordinated effort to tarnish his image. “The truth is that Dr. Nwaeke has been compromised, and whatever he is saying is only aimed at fulfilling his promise to those who may have paid or coerced him to lie against me,” the suspended governor said.

The political crisis in Rivers State has deepened in recent months, with ongoing conflicts between Fubara and his political opponents. The allegations and counter-allegations have fueled tensions in the state, raising concerns about governance and stability.

Fubara’s suspension and the subsequent appointment of a sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, have further complicated the situation. The recent resignation of Nwaeke and his statements against the governor have added another layer of controversy to the unfolding political drama in Rivers State.

Observers are closely watching how the crisis will unfold, with expectations that more political players will weigh in on the matter in the coming days.
