Terrorists go on rampage in Katsina community, kill Imam, two others, abduct dozens of villagers

Suspected terrorists have killed three persons, including 65-year-old Imam, Bashiru Jibrin, at Yandaka village, Batsari Local Council of Katsina State.
The gunmen, who reportedly struck on Tuesday at about 9.00 pm, also abducted more than 32 persons, including women and children.
Among the deceased was a 12-year-old boy identified as Haruna. Some of the injured were still receiving hospital treatment until press time yesterday.
A source said the terrorists, armed with automatic weapons, stormed the community in their numbers and moved from house to house, dragging out hapless residents.
Residents said the intervention of security operatives limited the duration of the operation by the bandits as they stormed the community in large numbers.
The residents further revealed that some victims were able to escape from the bandits while being forcefully taken away in the forest.
The spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident.
The spokesman said, “Two incidents occurred simultaneously at Dan Alhaji and at Yandaka. Two people were killed in the attack, while we have it on record that 29 victims were abducted.
“Our operatives are already there, and we are on top of the situation.”
